Testimonials

"Malaina, I just wanted to let you know that I'm officially finished with all my applications and waiting for responses. I'm thrilled to share that I've already received offers from both Duke and George Washington, with scholarships! (They were big surprises for me.) Thank you sincerely for your help. I couldn't have done this without you." - Jialei

Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How long is the application process?

The application process varies but takes at least two months to complete. For undergraduate applications, I recommend starting no later than the summer after junior year. For some applicants, it can be helpful to begin the process as early as freshman year.

  2. When are applications due?

Undergraduate application deadlines vary by school and program but generally, early action and early decision deadlines are between November 1 and November 15, and the regular decision deadline is typically at the end of December.

Graduate application deadlines also vary by school and program ranging from November 1 through the beginning of April. Graduate programs are also more likely to employ rolling admissions, making it advisable to submit as early as possible.

  3. What are my chances of getting in?

While it is impossible to say with certainty what any individual student’s chances are of getting into a school, basic stats can be found here.

  4. Do I have to do the package or can I select specific services (a la carte)?

I recommend the package because it includes unlimited communication with me and enables us to prepare a cohesive application package. I do offer à la carte services if, for example, you require only line edits or interview prep. Book a free consultation with me to figure out which option would be the best for you.

  5. What if I need to apply to more than eight schools?

The package includes essays for eight schools because typically you can repurpose one or all of the essays for additional school applications. I am happy, however, to work on additional applications with you!

  6. Should I do the optional essays?

Yes! Don’t waste any opportunity to show the admissions committee who you are.
